Ever since I can remember I have been interested in plants, gardening, anything to do with the outdoors. A chance encounter with a book on western herbal medicine led me to begin studying how I could use plants to help my health. I was a chronic headache and migraine sufferer and I had tried everything western medicine had to offer, but never had any results. I had resigned myself to cope with the headaches for the rest of my life. Then, during one of the classes on western herbalism I attended, I was part of a “what is wrong with me” forum where a panel of practitioners suggested acupuncture. I started treatments as soon as I could and within six months felt like I had a brand new head. My experiences inspired me to commit to four years pursuing a master’s degree in acupuncture and herbal medicine so that I can help people achieve health just as I had been helped. As a practitioner, my goals are to use the different modalities of my medicine – acupuncture, dietary therapy, shiatsu massage, moxibustion, and herbal therapy to help my patients achieve health. I also seek to inspire my patients to realize that they can make positive changes to their health and well-being and that when we work together as a team the changes can be profound. I studied at Oregon College of Oriental Medicine for four years and graduated with a master’s degree in acupuncture and herbal medicine. As part of my education, I had the privilege of observing patient treatments in the clinic and witnessed others having healing experiences similar to mine. In my final year of school, I practiced in the OCOM clinic as an intern. I had the opportunity to treat patients under the direction of my professors. I also had the amazing opportunity to study in China with doctors in Chinese hospitals. I am a board-certified practitioner, currently licensed in the states of Montana and Oregon. I practice in Missoula, Montana and Stevensville, Montana.

After three decades of practicing medicine, I firmly believe each patient’s story is unique and that healing takes place on several levels. One of my early teachers stated, "if the doctor will just listen to what the patient has to say, the patient will tell you to what you need and how to proceed." This has remained a guiding principle in my practice. Only together can we map out a path to lasting health. Dr. Bergkamp has been practicing in Montana since 1982. At his clinic in Helena, Montana, Dr. Bergkamp focuses on pain management with an emphasis on clinical nutrition and natural hormone therapy. With a dual license in Acupuncture (LAc) and Naturopathic Medicine (ND) Dr. Bergkamp blends traditional practice with the latest relevant medical information to provide comprehensive health care.

Who is Dr. Amy Haynes Dr. Amy Haynes is a naturopathic doctor who has been practicing holistic medicine in Missoula, Montana for over 40 years. Using natural means to treat the whole body, rather than simply masking symptoms, Dr. Amy is able to determine the root cause of an ailment and help her patients heal from the inside out and experience a better quality of life. Dr. Amy grew up in a suburb of Detroit and was inflicted with numerous health issues. Her own conditions drove her to pursue a career in medicine. After attending the University of Michigan and realizing that traditional western medicine wasn’t the right place for her, she transitioned the National College of Naturopathic Medicine, in Portland Oregon. Upon graduation, she moved to Montana and started her practice, where she has been working towards helping the community with their health since 1984. Dr. Amy is passionate about utilizing methods and natural substances to minimize the risk of harmful effects and apply the least possible force or intervention necessary to diagnose illness and restore health. With long term patients, Dr. Amy focuses on preventative care so her patients to obtain their optimal health. What does Dr. Amy Haynes believe? Naturopathic medicine is centered on treating the whole person, including body, mind, and spirit. In alignment with this philosophy, Dr. Amy practices holistic care, attending to the body’s needs in order to support the mind and the spirit. She holds a belief that the gift of life gives us the opportunity to become more than what we were born to be, to expand our potential beyond our birthright. For that to happen, health has to be a number one priority. Wholesomeness and integrity bring s into alignment with our place in this beautiful web of nature. When we live in alignment, when our body and mind are nourished, we can become our best, healthiest selves. Ideally, we want to flow quickly and effortlessly. Dr. Amy believes we are as healthy as our relationships with each other, with the land, and with our creator. Dr. Amy believes that some answers live outside of the box of our beliefs, our opinions, and our feelings. Dr. Amy believes that clarity happens when we shift our paradigms. Dr. Amy believes that fixing cellular inflammation is the key to relief from chronic disease. Dr. Amy believes that for her to help you, she needs to know you. Dr. Amy believes that there is a reason for pain and suffering. Dr. Amy believes that the story needs to make sense. Dr. Amy believes that all living beings possess an intelligent, divine spark called the Vital Force, which gives us an innate ability to heal. How Can Dr. Amy Haynes Help You? Dr. Amy is highly skilled in a wide array of natural healthcare treatments. Some of the ones she is most passionate about are: Ozone Therapy Dr. Amy loves providing ozone therapy for her patients. It seems so simple, such an obvious treatment because it uses oxygen, an essential element to life! Ozone works beautifully—killing microbes and stimulating healing. Because it can’t be patented, it’s available to everyone. The applications of ozone therapy are endless—from treating bacterial infections to enhancing anti-aging. It can insufflate into an orifice, be injected into a joint or sinus, and infused into the blood. Prolotherapy Chronic Pain is horrible. It alters the course of lives by limiting our decision-making abilities. Like a thief, It steals our ability to feel pleasure in our lives. Patients come to us broken and in pain and, using prolotherapy, Dr. Amy enables their bodies to heal themselves. A month or so after treatment, they are better, without the use of drugs or surgery. Dr. Amy uses and loves prolotherapy as a means of treating chronic pain because it proves that our bodies are designed to heal. O-Shot As the name suggests, the O-Shot, or the orgasm shot, was created to enhance sexual pleasure in women. It has proven effective in decreasing pain, discomfort, and vaginal dryness, and increasing libido and, yes, orgasms! Another use for the O-Shot is treating incontinence or bladder leakage. Incontinence is a lonely and restrictive limitation with no good solution. Women stay home, limit their activities, and often avoid public situations altogether. The O-shot uses our own blood to treat this embarrassing condition. Dr. Amy finds this treatment, as opposed to mesh implants and surgery, to be elegant and sophisticated. There is something poetic about taking the cure from the patient’s own blood. and it works.

“While I was immersing myself in study and forging my second career in Oriental medicine, I had also been on another multi-year journey – the quest to have a child. After many failed attempts at assisted reproductive technologies, many of which were less than dignifying, it was as if my choice to go to acupuncture school was the universe’s way of granting my wish. In the first month of my clinical internship, my son was conceived naturally. I largely credit Chinese medicine - acupuncture, herbs and moxibustion - for this amazing blessing at the age of 42. If I needed any re-affirmation of my choice to become a practitioner of this system of medicine, becoming pregnant naturally with its help was it.” – Angie Kociolek Acupuncture Practice Philosophy Rootstock Acupuncture promotes each individual’s own potential to cultivate new growth and abundance.
